Debating

Debating

I feel like I can share this now, with my next and last debate of the semester coming this Thursday. Weeks like these really make me rely on God's providence and plan. They make me rely on His good pleasure and His promise that His word will not return void. And so when I enter a debate like this and, how I entered the one last month, I enter it with a confident spirit that God has everything under control. No argument of my opponents (or my Muslim teammate) will be able to take me by surprise because I trust that I will not be speaking. God will speak through me. He will guide my research. He will write my notes. Before I go into one of these things, I read Psalm 23.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
